It would be difficult to conceive any more striking method of demonstrating "what the Dominion owes to (lie freezing industry- than that hit upon by the .Wel-lington-Meat. Export Co.. Ltd.. in the display which is being made at the Wairarapa Show. The number of visitors to the- large tent near the entrance to the 'grounds is proof that the company's efforts in this direction are appreciated by those whose prosperity is inseparable from the freezing industry. One of the objects of the display is to demonstrate to the farmer that whereas a few years ago the only marketable products of surplus sheep was the skin and tallow, now npt a narticlo of an animal which passes through the modern freezing works is wasted. The number- and variety of the by-nroducts are a source of wonder to the layman visitor. A nently-arranged display of Sealed glass jars contain innumerable byproducts which represent practically every part of the anatomy of an ox and sheep (except the frozen carcass) which have passed through the company's works at Ngaliauranga. A fine display is also miulfl of. "morocco," "chamois," "crocodile" and other fancy leathers, all from the sheep's back, in the various stages of treatment, from the-freshly-cured pelt and the finished article ready for a variety of uses, including book-binding to the manufacture of ladies' "crocodile" belts and handbags. _ With regard to wools prominence is given to samples of the New Zenland-grown article, but for comparison there is a wonderful collection drawn from all parts of the world, ranging from the Kilesinn merino, which i<; verv short in the staple, but of silkliko fineness, to the Pcolc.h blnclc-facc. The exhibit will be at the Manawatu Show next week.
