ENTERTAINMENTS.
"OTHELLO." Shakespeare's tragedy "Othello" was again played at tho Opera House last oyeniug hy the Asche-Brnyton Company. The production is a very complete one, and for thoso who would refresh their memories with one of the most interesting works of tho Bard of Avon, tho performance is adequate, though it displays neither principals nor company to the best advantage. Air. Oscar Ascho cuts a magnificent figure in the gay-coloured and picturesque Moorish cost.uines in which lie garbs tho part, and acts thu difficult role, with a good deal of physical power. Miss Lily Brayton makes the tearful Desdeuiona as pretty and attractive as it is possible, nml acts the final sceuo convincingly. The tragedy is splendidly mounted, and the lighting effects avo onc'o more a feature. "Olhollo" will be played again this evening and to-morrow afternoon and evening. V ——— THEATRE ROYAL. The public can always rely on seeing a capital programme of clean first-run pictures at the Skating Rink, and tho new lot shown last night were right up to tho best standard established by Messrs. Fuller and Sons. The most ' important picture from a dramatic point of view shown last evening was "The Relief of Lncknow." It depicts with startling realism the scene as it. might have been at; Lucknow, with the besieged garrison of the Indian city, holding out bravely against tho enveloping Sepoy forces. Tho sufferings of the women and'children, and the heroism of the soldiers, nil practically under sentence of death, is shown by the aid of an army of actors, the male characters being drawn from the ranks of tho famous Queen's Own Regiment. In the midst of alarms, with the food and water running short, and death stalking rampant .through the torrid streets, the gallant stand is made. Finally a volunteer comes forward to offer to "do or die" in carrying the news of the garrison's tragic condition. He gels through the lines after a perilous time, conveys tho message which brings the Campbells to the rescue, to tho immeasurable relief of tho distressed garrison. Another strong dramatic photo-play is "A Child's Remorse," in which some clever acting is dono by a gifted child actress. "What tho Doctor Ordered" provided excellent comic relief. THE NEW THEATRE.
