HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.
(From Our Special Correspondent.) » It is the intention of o. section of the Upper Hutt Valle.,- League members to convene an extraordinary met ting at Upper Hutt on Wednesday evening nexi to trnvuvse tho action of tlio recent deputation to th> Minister for Kriihvays regarding the vail-ige of milk to the'city m the inornin:,'«. At present (it is slated) inconvenience is experienced by (he fanners of Alun^fl-'o. 1 ., Wallaceville, and Silverstream haWiig to ship their milk by an earlier (rain 'linn heretofore, whereas tho journey extends from one hour and a quarter to two hours and forty minutes, which, in mid-summer, means great loss to tho farmers by reason of tho protracted journey turning tho milk sour on route. Whilst no desire is expressed to retard the 7.50 a.m. train io the city, it is tho opinion of many that should the Department insist on speedier trucking at Wallacerillc than usually prevails, the present time-table can bo adhered to, and milk vans restored, as much timo is still consumed at Lower Hutt, and in picking up racehorses at Trentham siding when occasion w.vrants. Only a further deputation will clear the atmosphere, apparenllv.
