BAPTIST CONFERENCE.
(By Teleeraph.-Press A««ociatlon.) Christchurch, October 24. The closing sesion of tho Baptist Conference was held this morning. AVhen the missionary budget for the year, dealing with Hie society's stations in Tipperah.. Kast Bengal, were brought up, t!ie Rev'; Mr. Fraser occupied the chair, and, associated with him, were the following officers of the Missionary Society:—The Rev. ,T. K. Archer, general secretary; Mr. H. H. Driver, minute secretary; and Mr. A. Hoby, treasurer. A missionary budget, based upon last year's financing;, was outlined, and budget proposals involving a sum of «E3fl2t were adopted. Jt was decided to recommend ministers to call special nttenti n to the centenary of Dr. Adonir.im Mnsnn's arrival in Rangoon in July, 1813. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the Rev. F. Mncdonald.
On tho motion of thp TCev. Alfred North, seconded by the "Rev. C. Dallaston, hearty sheetings were naswd to tho "Rev, Chas. Carter, senior New Zealand minister in the denomination, first president of the. union, and one, whoso missionary and translation work in Ceylon were well known.
