PARKS FOR AUCKLAND.
(By Tdcßtaph.—Succlal CorrcsDo'ndent.) Auckland, October 24. Tho acquirement of the late Sir John Logan Campbell's property, "Kilbrydp," as a pnrk for Parncll wa? advocated 1)V the Mayor of Auckland (Mr. C. J. Parr), in an address to the Parnell ratepayers last evening. Re Paid that the property, if for its historic associations alone, ouplit to be acquired at once and without hesitation, or the opportunity would bp gone for ever. The property comprised six acres of land, and had been valued for probate at JJ12.000. It would be a shame to see it cut up by speculators, for it already adjoined a public park, and the two together would make a reserve which would rival Point Erin Park, and would be a delight to future generations. Within the next half-century Auckland would be a city of •iftO.OOO people, aid every available brenthins space would be needed. What was iC12,000 when compared with the future value of such a park? If Parnell became part of the city, concluded Mr. Parr, the property would be purchased within twelve months if he had anything to do with it.
