Sir James Mills, chairman of Directors of the Union Steamship Company of New Zealand, informed an interviewer here that he had . met Mr. Foster, the Canadian Minister for Trade, in London recently and had assured him that Australia was oxtremely anxious to negotiate for reciprocity with Canada. The Commonwealth was also desirous of improving communications with Canada wherever possible. Canada's manufactured products were finding ready markets in Australia and New Zealand. Since Auckland had been made the port of call, trade between New Zealand and Canada had felt a great stimulus.

MR. FISHER'S HOPES. (Rcc.. October 25, 1 a.m.) Melbourne, October 24. Replying to a'question in the House of Representatives, the Prime Minister, Mr. Fisher, said ho had good reasons for believing that there was a growing sentiment in New Zealand for closer reciprocal relations with the Commonwealth, regarding trade and defence.
