■- ( _ THE BULLOCK AND ITS OWNER. (By Tclosraph.-Prcsj Association,). Dunedin, October 24. At Milton to-day, boforo Mr. Barthot lomew, S.M., Win. Bortliwick wns charged with cruelty to a bullock. The evidence for the prosecution was to tho effect that the bullock was exhausted and lay down by tho roadside, while being , driven from Akatoro to Milton, that defendant broke its horns, and broke its tail off, also tliat he dragged it to some tussocks and set fire to it while it wna alive.

Tho magistrate said that tho evidence was insufficient to prove that the burning took place beforo tho animal was dead, but some injuries had been inflicted. Defendant was fined £b, with costs £2 17s.
