Trcntham and Racing Club's dinner in the evening; September 30, their Excellencies leave- for "Highden," Palinerslon North; November 1, his Excellency attends Palmcrston North show; November 2, his Excellency (probably) returns to Wellington; November (I, their Excellencies leave for Christchurch; November 7, conference with leading agriculturalists in evening; November 8, attends Canterbury A. and P. show; November 11, her Excellency leaves for Wellington; November 17, his. Excellency arrives in Wellington after payimfarowell visits to Christclmrch, Dunediu" lm-crcargill, and Timaru; November 18, farewell garden party in Government House grounds, Wellington; November 19, his Excellency will bo entertained at dinnor by tho Wellington Club; November 22, their Excellencies leave for Auckland] where they will remain until their departure from the Dominion.

Thomas Shailcr Weston, had \v , , "' 1 recently. Mr. Hestoiii had been a member of the Houso row 1881 to 1883, and afterwards ho had held high offices as a public servant. Ho moved that the House place on record its appreciation of the deceased gentleman's services to New Zealand, and that assurances of sympathy be tendered to his family in their bereavement. The motion was supported by Messrs. Russell, Buddo, and Colvm, and affirmed by the House.
Mr. h. J. i'inch, whoso death in Sydney was mentioned yesterday, entered the service of tho Bank of New South Wales on November 19, 1860, at which time his father was Usher of the Black Hod in tho i\cw South Wales Parliament. Deceased first came.to New Zealand from Brisbane m 1887, when ho took charge of tho Dunodin branch. Four years later ho went back to Queensland as inspector and succeeded the late Mr. W. G. Khind in that capacity in New Zealand in July, lhoß , , Vtt ,? recognised as nn authority on Australian finance, and was consulted by the Queensland Government before its issue of Stato bnnk notes many years belore the Federal bank notes were issued.
I should like to say now that 1 am very proud of being a New Zealamlor; all the young New Zcalanders whom I have met out here have seemed to me to bo virile, honourable men, and my parents always spoke of New Zealand as a colony of Hie first quality," remarked the recently consecrated Bishop of Kiniberley (iJr. bore-Brown, son of a former Governor of New Zealnnd) in the course of a letter to the Anglican Synod at present sitting in Auckland. "So it has been a very great happiness to know that I was being remembered at the allars of Auckland. Pleaso accept my warmest thanks for all your kindness lo me."
J. he death occurred at an early how yesterday morning of Mr. William Wilson A! Cardie, Mayor of Puliinlua. Deceased was the second son of the Hon. W. W. M'Cardle, M.L.C., and was aged 44 years. He had been in ill-health for the past year, aud underwent two serious operations, the lust one recently in Sydney. He was in his third term as Mayor, and was a member of the Borough Council for over twenty years. He was largely instrumental in establishing 'municipal swimming baths in the town, and in town beautifying. The late Mr. M'Cardlo was a member of tho Wairarapa Hospital Board, vice-president of tho Pahiatua ltaciug Club and the Woodlands Hunt ,Club, founder of, the Pahiatua Hide Club, formerly ail' officer of the Pithiatua Mounted Rifles, a committeeman of the'A. and P. Association, and a justice of the peace. Jleccntly he was presented with a testimonial and a purse of sovereigns, 'in recognition, of his services to the district. Deceased leaves a widow and family of seven.—Press Association.

Mr. IF. K Cocks, who is succeeding Mr. Shell as t\\e \\«Y\\\\fcW >\\ss\o\\cv to S&amen, will .arrive here by the Victoria, and will take up his duties on November 1.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Johnston who have been spending the winter months in Sydney, arrived hack in Wellington by the Maitni yesterday.
