Mr. Bruntnell, M.L.A., who was a member of tho Now South Vfalos Totalisator Commission, in speaking against tho totalisator, said no doubt tho fascination of the machine had increased the volume of betting amongst all classes in New Zealand. The real danger seemed to bo that it would draw into tho toils- tho individual who would not dream of betting with the bookmaker.
