The Eastbourne Borough Council mot in committee yesterday and decided to recommend the council to abandon presont negotiations with the Ferry Company, This recommendation will bo considered at tho next ordinary meeting of tlio Eastbourne Council on Thursday next at 1.30 p.m. in the borough clerk's office.

The Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board has agreed to combine with the St. John Ainbulanco Association in the matter of the annual street collection, provided tho association is agreeable to accept one-fourth of the collection.

The amount of land tax paid by Crown tenants in respect of their Crown leases for the year ending March 31, 1912, was 4)1181 Gs. Id. The Marconi Company is erecting at San I'rancisoo and Honolulu stations of the same type as those which it is proposed to construct for tho British Imperial scheme. The new Marconi station at Honolulu has been so designed as to enable wireless communication to be established at a, little later date with similar stations to bo erected at Yokohama and in tho Philippine Islands. The Marconi Wiroles-s Telegraph Company of America have commenced proceedings for infringement of patent against the Federal Wireless Telegraph Company, which has established communication between S.3u Francisco and Honolulu by means of tho l'oulsen system—Press Association.
According to the text of the cablo messago from London (published _ the other day), tho impression conveyed is that tho wreath sent Home-to the Nelson Memorial in Trafalgar Square by the various branches of the Navy League in New Zealand was from Wellington only. Mr. C. W. Palmer, local secretary of the league, asks us to make it quito clear thnt the wreath was n New Zealand tribute, not from Wellington only.
Says our Auckland correspondent—/V passenger from the south by tho steamer Tnrawcra had a narrow escape from losing a portion of his luggage. A tin trunk belonging to him was addressed to Auckland, but, on his arrival, the passenger concerned found that tho trunk had apparently disappeared. A search was mode for tho missing article, and, eventually, it was discovered in the ship's trauson, the destination label having been obliterated and a Suva label substituted in its place. The fato of tho luggage, hnd tho passenger not discovered the trunk, is a innlter for conjecture, but there is no doubt that tho whole affair was an impudent attempt at theft.
