THE NEW OBSERVATORY.

AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC. The new Observatory at Kelburiie, though-as yet unfinished and lighted only by lamps or candle, is now in working order, and will, for the present or until futrhcr notice, be open for members of the society, if the weather is • astronomically favourable every Tuesday evening, beginning with to-night. Members of the council will bo in charge on these occasions from 7.30 to !U0 p.m. On the first and third Tuesday in each month a limited number of tickets at Is. each will be available for non-members. These, tickets may he obtained from the president, Mr. C. 1 , . Powlcs.

The Observatory may be opened for members on other nights if Arrangements iiro made beforehand with a member of the council. Any member, with practical experience, who has been approved by (he council, may obtniu a private key for nn annual rental of o=. The following is a statement of accounts to October 10, 1912:—Receipts: Donations, ,£SS 165.; lectnros, .£3l 13s. Gd.; subsidy, .C 100; for keys, 155.; interest, 18s. 10d.; total, JE2I9 3s. 4d. Expenditure: Expenses of lectures, .€lO Gs. (id.; advertising tenders, JIS iGs. Gd.; equatorial mount, J3B IGs. 7d.j nn nccojint building, ,£150; balance, J!10 Us. od.; total, .£219 3s. id.
