MUNICIPAL ORCHESTRA.
Tlio ln-st concert but ono of this season by tlio Municipal Orchestra will be givwi in (ho Town Hall this evening. Tlio orchestra has now been in existence for slightly over two years, and lho?o who are qualified to judgo speak highly of the good work that has been, done. The aim of the society is to placo 4ho best composors' works before tho public nt nominal cliurgos, nnd (hoy lmvo now given more than twenty-threo concerts. Possibly tho musical people of Wellington hnrdlv yet realise tho asset; which they have in'these orchestral concerts. Tho programme for to-night; consists of Mr. iMaughan Barnett'e "Song of Empiro"; overture, "Knryantho," by Weber; "Toreador and And'alouso" (Rubinstein); ono movement from Schuberts "Seventh Symphony"; Grieg's attractive, suite,. "Peer Uyiit, 5 ' and (by special request) (TVclmikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite." This constitutes a variety of music which should make a wide appeal. Mr. Manghan Harnctt will conduct, and Miss Dora Kcid is the vocalist of tho evening.
