KING DISPLEASED.
LORD DENMAN'S " EVICTION."
RUMOURS OF ROYAL VISIT TO SYDNEY* UNUSUAL SITUATIONBy Tclezrapb—Press Aasoclatipn-Coiiyriehl Sydney, October 21. A statement has been, published tbnt King Georges before Lord Denman left England in 1911 to take office as Gov-ernor-General of the Commonwealth, besides expressing a very definite view as to the desirability of retaining Government Souse, Sydney, as a residence for the Governor-General, intimated his <lesiro to visit Australia at an. early opportunity and to use Government House as a residence during his sojourn in New South Wales.
The State Attorney-General, Mr. 11 olman, characterises the statement as extraordinary, and roundly denies that the Government ever leceived a communication conveying these views. The only definite information as to the King's views seems to be the conversation which Mr. Paxton, of the Chamber of Commerce, reports having had with his' Majesty during his recent visit to England, There is no record in the correspondence of the New Sontti Wales Government that his. Majesty was ever interested in the matter. The Colonial Office, however, used the King's nnmo in a dispatch to Mr. Fisher, the Federal Prime Minister, in a vuy suggesting that his Majesty was personally interested. The New South Wales Ministers were" not taken into Mr. Fisher's confidence on, this point.
