HOSTILITY TO FEDERATION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, October 21. The Jluntly correspondent of one of the Auckland papers telegraphs: A train from Frankton, carrying Main Trunk passengers, was met this morning by a large number of miners in apparent expectation^, (ho arrival of come of the Federation's executive. Tho latter body is regarded us lacking in grip and initiative, having nothing but mistakes to show for tho past few months. Tho matter of a now union is said to have been mentioned with considerable bitterness at yesterday's meeting. Still moro men are leaving Huntly. Several mine™ aro employed on tlie surface of tho mines. The feeling is gaining ground that the Federation will bo unable to bring tho trouble to a conclusion favourable to the miners. HUNTLY POSITION. (Auckland, October 21. The following telegram has been posted at tho office of tho Weika/to Minors' Union, Huntly:—"The administrative executive, meeting in session, unanimously endorsed the stand taken by your executive and union. Negotiations arc. proceeding lo arrange a conference loth with tlie coal miners and gold owners to discuss the position. It is hoped there will lie developments soon.—(Signed) Collins." LABOUR SRIKE "OFF." ' Auckland, October 21. The general labourers have officially declared the strike oil. Mr. Cnnhnm, a member of tho executive of tlie Federation of Labour, himself resumed work on the wharf to-day.
