PICTURE SHOWS.
FULLERS' PICTURES. There will be a completely new ..programme at- the Skating Rink, Vivian Street, to-night. The chief picture will be "The Sphinx," which is described as "a dramatic masterpiece." THE NEW THEATRE. Abundant patronage. was accorded the New Theatre continuous pictures at all sessions on Saturday. The principal attraction is the exquisite Continental photo-play "The Black Cat," a story of a young doctor who marries a woman far beneath his social position. There are several other subjects of an entertaining type. "The Black Cat" will be repeated to-day and to-night for the last time. There will be a,complete change to-mor-row, when the Nordisk Company's charming modern drama "An Artist's Model" will bo revived for three days and nights. "An Artist , s Model" was shown with romarkablo success last week, and its revival is due to the numerous requests for its repotition. THE KING'S THEATRE. A special Trafalgar Day matinee will be held at the King's Theatre this afternoon. The entertainment will commence at half-past three. 'The Navy and the Army Illustrated" will bo shown, and "The French, Spy," also will bo thrown on tho screen. ;■ '• What is 6aid to bei 'an exceptionally fine picture is promised by West's Pictures this evening for presentation of the King's Theatre. "The French Spy" is a epecial Vitagraph production' and was taken on the actual places in which the plot is centred around. The total cost is said to have run well into ,£2OOO, and tho largo cast of star artists and supernumeraries were -engaged for weeks enacting the sensational incidents with which the story abounds. Exciting war scenes in which numbers of Moors, Arabs, Turks, and French Eoldiere are engaged are depicted and a bombardment on the Arab fortress and rescue of the French colonel and his wife is the culminating sensation. Special orchestrations suitable to tho picture will be played by the King's Orchestra. SHOBTT'S PICTURES. To-day and to-night Messrs Shortts announce that a complete change of programme will be screened at thedr Picture Theatre in Willis Street. Tho star attraction to be screened is entitled "A Ghost of the Past," and is advertised as a superb film 2000 feet long. It is also stated that this is the first time this drama has been shown in New Zealand. THE EMPRESS THEATRE. The comfortably fitted out Empress Continuous Picture Theatre commenced its first run of twelve hours on Saturday, and was visited by a large number of patrons throughout the day and night. This theatre is the first in Wellington to introduce a pianola, instead of the ordinary piano. The pianola is used during tho daytime, and in the evening a full orchestra provides the necessary musical items. , The pictures shown on Saturday were all good items, and were much appreciated by those present. "The Lost Will" is tho title of a very interesting dramatio' rtudy. Another capital dramatic study is "The Hand of Fate," which is full of intensely interesting incidents. The familiar phrase, "More Haste, Less Speed," is the title of a comic number which affords ample amusement. The programme, which contains n number of other excellent pictures, will be repeated throughout to-day. A complete change of programme is announced for tomorrow. The programme will be changed twice weekly, viz.—Tuesdays and Fridays.
