Mr. and Mrs. Pethick Lawrence have quitted the Women's Social and Political Union, owing to a disagreement with Mrs. and Miss Pankliurst regarding- a militant policy. They will, however, continue to co-operate in the general cause.
The Pankhursts, intend to publish the Suffragette journal "Votes for Women" (hitherto edited by the Pethick £awrences) under Miss Pankhurst's editorship. The Labour Parliamentary Party has declined the request of women Suffragetto adherents to vote against the Franchise Bill, but has decided to press for women's suffrage. WRECKING CRUSADE 'ADVOCATED. (Rec. October 18, 9.25 p.m.) m • London, October 18. Ihe Women's Political and Social Union, the Suffragette organisation, has held a great demonstration nt the Albert Hall, at which a sum of <£3000 was subscribed towards the funds. Threo hundred li omen who had suffered imprisonment, attired in whito dresses, occupied the platform. • • ; Mrs. Pankhurst. advocated the wholesale destruction of property as the women s most effective weapon in demanding the vote. AN EXPLANATION. (Rec. October 18, 10.15 p.m.) London, October 18. Mr. P. D. Aclarul, Parliamentary Un-der-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, has explained that in making his recent statement, that if the Suffragettes ceased militant tactics a Franchiso Bill would bo introduced, ho was speaking, not for tho Government, but 'for the supporters of woman suffrage.
