WESLEY CHURCH SUNDAY SCHOOL.

A SUCCESSFUL ANNIVERSARY. The 71st anniversary of the Wesley Church Sunday School was celebrated on Wednesday with a tea meeting in Wesley, Hall, which was so well patronised that a relay of the tables was necessary. The public meeting was held in tho Church when quite a thousand' people were present. The hymns, rendered, on Sunday were repeated and a 'dialogue entitled "The Gospel Light," together with a recitation by Miss .Toy Sutherland, was given. Mr. 11. T. 11. Grave (siiperirilondenl) presided and thanked the parents and friends for their help in making, the anniversary so complete a success. The Rev.' J. G. Chapman, in his address, complimented Mr. Billman oil the efficient manner in which he had trained the scholars; and complimented the scholars on their singing and exemplary behaviour at the services. He was .pleased to see that Hie glory of former anniversaries, which seemed to have departed for a time, had once again returned. Mr. Chapman spoke in high praise of the work of tho superintendent and congratulated him on the high state of efficiency to which the school had attained. The teachers also were complimented on their loyalty and attachment to the school. He appealed to the patents to ass.ist in the formation of n "Young People's Church Brigade," which would meet on Sunday morning at 20 minutes to 11 and would be the moans of inducing the scholars to attend the Sunday, morning service. . The secretary, Mr. H. B. Grave, in his report, showed that the scholars numbered 481 with 41 teachers. He referred to the growth by the school during the year and tltt- marked improvement, and reverent conduct of the children in the .school. Recreation had been provided ill the form of socials, concerts, and Saturday afternoon rambles. The school had' contributed .£4l for Homo and foreign missions and, .£l9 12s. for school funds, exclusive of the support of two orplinn children in Fiji.
