The .House of Representatives spent half an hour yesterday in transacting formal -business, and the remainder of the sitting (which lasted until 1.20 a.m.) in, debating .the proposals: cpntained iu tho Laud Laws xVmendment Hill. During: the nfternoon cthe -Native viand proposals in the Bill wero' discussed from ; different standpoints by the Hon. A, T, Ngata and the' Hon. Dr. Pomare. Members on both sides showed a readiness to talk as the debate continued, but the House wns poorly tenanted towards mid- - night. ■ The later speeches wero mostly mado by critics and opponents' of tho Government proposals. . The House adjourned at 1.20 a.m. The' ; Legislative,. Council, spent the afternoon in a discussion on tho second leading of the Legislative Council Bill.
