— ♦ .FOREIGN MISSIONS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ' Christchurch, October 17.
The Baptist conference met this morning when matters connected with foreign missions were dealt with. The report of the treasurer (Sir. A, Hoby) 6tnted that while the year opened with a dobit of .£353 this had all been wiped off, tile year closing with a credit, balance of .6108, receipts being ,£3102 ISs. lid., and the expenditure X 2994 Ills. 6d. Tho sum of iCIBI 14s. 6d. was forwarded to tho Baptist Church of Russia to help in building a- church in St. Petersburg, The report was adopted. The general organisers' report made special mention of the splendid work done by the Baptist Women's Missionary Union. The report was adopted.
The Baptist' Women's Missionary Union report stated that over 600 garments had lwen sent to India during the year and ,£417 had been raised for the mission work. Tho report was adopted. The following officers of the Sessionary Union were Selected,—Secretary, the Rev. J. IC. Archer; treasurer, Mr. A. Hoby; auditors, Messrs. C. Godber, sen., and T. Wilson; missionary preacher, the l?ev. H. B. Hughes, SI.A.; deputy preacher, the Rev. D. S. Mason.
At tho afternoon 'session tho Rev. Mr. Archer moved, on behalf of the missionary committee, and the Rev, A. North seconded: "That an aggregate sum of „£125 be added to tho salaries of workers in India in order to bring them up to tlioso paid by tho British Slissionnry Society." Tho motion was carried unanimously.
