ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
KNOCKED DOWN BY TEAM. Betweon 12 and 1 o'clock yesterday an elderlv lady, named Mrs. Huffam (of itotueka) was knocked down bv a, tram ; and rather seriously injured. It appears that Sirs. Huffam, who is a visitor to • Wellington, becamo confused by the t.raf- 1 fic, and on turning round to go back- to the footpath she met tho car. Although tlie motorman stopped the car promptly, lie was nnablo to avoid tho accident, and • tho lady was knocked down. She was picked iip, and removed to tho. 6hop of Messrs. Harrington, Ltd., where she was attended by Dr. Herbert, who dircctod that she should ,bo. removed to tho hospital. Besides feveral bruises, Mrs. Huffam sustained a fracture of the collarbone.
MISHAP IN FOUNDRY. Hw>tor Gemmell, 18 yeaps of age, who hail' .from the Mfttiawatu,; was injured about, tho head while working, m Messrs. Cable's foundry yesterday. Ho is at present in the Public Hospital, but his con\ dition is not regarded as serious. - - -
