The survey party from, Scott's Antaro tio Expedition ship Terra Nova, which for tho past four mouths,'has boon working in Admiralty Bay, at the eastern approach to French Pass, completed: work on Thursday Inst, and members tiro now returning to .Lyttelton. , Lioutenant Pennoll, who amved at Lyttelton resterday morning, informed a reporter 'that the area surveyed was about eight miles long and three miles wide. In that area over 10,000 soundings had been made, and these showed t!'■ ut tho general depth of tho whole of Admiralty Bay was from 20 to 25 fathoms, -,thp„bot> torn being of .mud, with a few-, saiwy. patches, and no outlying dangers V*,'. A party was sent out early thi6 mouth locate tho rock reported by Messrs. Hope on the Tasmnn Bay sido of French Pass. This rock, which is now known' as "Hope Rock, was fixed two miles off Olcuri Bay, and the sanio distance from Taugi Point. D'Urvillo Island. Two days were also spent in taking a few lines of soundings into Hamilton Bay, at the southern end of Admiralty Bay. It was found that thoro was a uniform depth of slightly over 20 fathoms, with a mud bottom devoid o! rocks.

Lioutonant Fcnnoll stated that tho party had been very comfortably billeted at (lie I3luis!io Bay Accommodation House, and that tho pcoplo living in the vicinity had been exceedingly kind, and had given them every assistance possible. Tho results .of tho four months' surrey had already Iwn plotted on new charts, which would be completed in about a month's time. A tracing would then bo rent to the Marino Department, and {air charts forwarded to tho Hydrographio Department of tho Admiralty for publication. Questioned regarding future movements of the expedition, Lieutenant lonnell stated that members vcro going on leavo until November 1.
