HUTT ROAD TALLY.

COMMENCEMENT OF IT TO-DAY.

Barriers have been erected on the Hutt Road—one at tlx© end of the Thorndon Esplanade and the other at the Ivoro ICoro Bridge, Petone—in connection with tlio comprehensive tally of vehicle traffic which is to commence to-day. In addition, men will be stationed at the intersection of the roads leading up to Ngaio at Kaiwarra, to'Johnsonvillo at tho ls:gahauranga Gorge, and at the Horokiwi' Road. Questions will bo asked as to tho name of tho owner of each vehicle that passes, whence it came and whither going, while a record will bo kept of the class of vehicle/ The number ol foot passengers will also bo checked. For three weeks the tally will bo carried 011 day and night without intermission.
