In explanation of Bronze's form at Randwick it is stated that before the meeting he had a foot pricked by a nail and had to have it lanced. The foot was very sore during the racing. Mr. R. J. TWO JOCKEYS AND A TRAINER.

An inquiry by the Yarra Glen Hunt Club stewards regarding the running of The Wave, winner of the Cave fell Steeplechase, resulted in the disqualification of G. O'Neill, a bookmaker, and Charles Caylock, a trainer, for life. J. Chevally, the rider of The Wave, has been sent up for twelve months for oorrupt practicos. Two jockeys made statutory declarations that they had received ,£2O each to stop their 'horses in the race, though they denied that they had stopped their mounts. The trainer declared that he had been offered .£2O by each of the jockeys to scratch his horse.

The Dunedin meeting will be concluded to-day. Local interest in the meeting will centre chiefly in the doings of Odessa, who is engaged in the big handicap, and Ceylon, who has been paid up for in the Welter. The latter is likely to come m for heavy support because it is known here that 6he got shut in at a critical juncture in the October Welter, in> which she finished third. Also she meets Medallist and Troon, who finished in. front of her on Wednesday, on much more advantageous terms to-day. T T , he s 9S ing m «« tin S °f the Australian Jockey Club will bo brought to a conclusion at Randwick to-day. The only New Zealand horses engagf.d are Shuja, who is in two handicaps, and tho jumpers, Sir Lethe and Continuance, who will meet in the Dowling Steeplechase. Sir Lethe, being such a wild animal, is sure to be a much better horse to-day. When ho started on Monday he had not had a race 6ince the National meeting. To-day it may be expected that he will go more kmdly and jump better. Past experience has shown that he is always better for having had a race. This was particularly noticeable at Napier and Riccarton Tho Native is to be shipped to Sydney tar the Maunganui, which leaves next Fnday. _ Meanwhile the black gelding, who, it is thought, has been purchased for Frank M'Grath, tho well-known Sydney trainer, has been left in the oare of A. Attwood at Feilding. There will be racing at Masterton noxt Thursday. Twelve horses from the Porirua stable will be doing duty at the Trentham meeting, and will bo railed to headquarters on Wednesday next. They willbe in charge of J. H. Prosser, while Deeley, Conquest, and Emerson will divide the riding of thn team. Acceptances for tho first day's events at the Wellington Racing Chub's meeting close on Friday next. . Gladiole has had a change of trainers, and is now. under the care of T. George at Awapuni. The speedy chestnut mare is reported to bo well forward, and will race at Trentham at the end of the month.

Weights for the Canterbury Jockey Club's Stewards' Handicap are duo on Monday next. ■ Rather sensational rumours were afloat in Wellington yesterday concerning Allegory, who, it is said, has shown 6igns of unsoundness, and is unlikely to see the post in tho New Zealand Clip. Up fill yesterday he ranked as a very pronounced favourito for this race. Yesterday plenty of money was offered at three times that odds, with no takers. It is probable, therefore, that there is something in the rumours. It is known that two S.P. merchants received cables from Sydney, and, as they subsequently offered to do business on the New Zealand Cup, it is thought that there are grounds for the feeling that all is not well with the favourite. Should tho Martian gelding land here not himself on Wednesday his place in the market will be taken by his stable companion, Vice-Admiral, who, if he strikes his form of 12 months ago, will certainly be a useful substitute for Allegory. The grey horse Mira, who went wrong in the shoulder at the last Riccarton meeting, ia now quite himself again, and will be a runner at Masterton on Thursday next.

Should Duke Foote and Trafalgar meet in tho Randwick Plate to-day, the race will be one of tho star features of the meeting. The latter horsa has now won tho two-mile event threo timee in succession, and is likely to put up n world's record to-day. When tho numbers go up it may bs found that Duke Foote ia missing, for it is not likely that Mr. J. Baron will ask Duke Foote to race over two miles to-day, for he had threo hard races in a week. As ho is such a warm favourite for tho Melhourno Cup, which appears to be well within his compass, his owner will bo pardoned if he imagines that his horsa does not want a fourth raca, especially as it is over a two miles course.

Acceptances for the Waverley-Waitotara Racing; Club's meeting close on Friday next.

Penza, who is now to go to the stud, was shipped south last evening. She was very lame when being put on board the steamer, and her ailment was not improved by a five hours' train journey from Trcntham. This came about through something; going wrong with tho train, on which she was being conveyed to town. In recent years, New Zealand-bred horses have figured prominently at the Victorian Amateur Turf Spring meeting, and in the Toorak Handicap espeoially the Dominion has been wefi represented. Soultline won in 1908. Motoa' ran third (he following year, Gold Lace acted as runner-up in 1910, and Motoa won last year. In, the Caulfield Stakes Pink-Un and Artillerie have gained victories, while in the Caulfield Cup Maranui secured a victory iu 1908 and Aborigine dead-hoated with Bluo Book in 1909. Lady Medallist, who won the Cup last year, was not bred in tho Dominion, though for some time she raced hero in the colours of the Porirua trainer, J. H. Prosser.

To-day New Zealand will be well represented at Caulfield by Royal Scotch, Irelaud, and some others. Royal Scotch will be opposed to Lady Medallirt in the Caulh'eld Stakes, and should either of tho pair win it will mean more public support for tho Cup next Saturday. The past history of the race, howover, shows that winners of the Cnulfield Stakes have subsequently been most unfortunate in the Cup.
