Carter; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. J. Robertson, M.P., Byron Brown, W. H. Field, Moynihan, Liuiining, Baddeley, l'arquhar, Lambert, G. N. Stephensonj Murray, Lind, Hook, Gibson, Kirkland, and the Rev. Mr. Palmer; management committee, Messrs. Monteith, King, Carter, Doidge', W. Tremewan. J. Butterworth, and L. Randall; secretary, Mr.• Monteith; treasurer, Mr. King. It was decided that the club should affiliate with the Horowhenua Cricket Association. A balance on hand of .£1 15s. lid. was brought forward from last year. Mr. E. Law presided at a meeting in the Druids' Hall on Tuesday forenoon, when the Manawatu River Control Committee, appointed some months ago, delivered their report. There was a gcod deal of discussion as to various proposals to deviate the river, and amongst those who contributed to tho discussion were Messrs. Armstrong, 11. Akers, G. Saunders, B. Gower, and Barber. It was decided that a deputation should wait on the Prime Minister, the Minister for Public Works, and the Minister for Iμnance, and endeavour to get a sum placed on the Estimates in order to have a preliminary survey and report made on the various schemes. CARTERTON. The ' Cartertoii Bowling Green will be formally opened for the season on Thursday afternoon. The green is in good order, and the general surroundings of the club are looking at their best. The tennis courts are in splendid condition. The funeral of the late Mr. James Bar-' liss, , who died nt his residence, Palmerston \ortli, on Monday, took place at the Claroville Cemetery on Tuesday The service was conducted by, the Rev. 1(. Young, vicar of St. Mark's Church.
