CATHOLIC SEAMEN.
.'l'h'e 'fortiiiglitly concert, under the auspicc's'of.'the Catholic Seamen's Conference. held last evening, and was well patronised by seamen and friends.' Tho enthusiasm displayed showed. .that the concerts were. gaining in popularity. A large number of musical and other items were given, and were much appreciated. A pianoforte solo ■was given by Miss Thawley. Songs were rendered by Mrs. Blythe, Misses Twohill, and M'Mahon, Messrs. Foote, Fitzgerald, Lennox, and [lealey. A banjo solo was contributed by Mr. Boyle, of s.s. Arawa. '.Recitations were given by Miss .Tarr and 'Mr. D. Kelly. The accompaniments were played by JLi;. T. Lawlor. The Rev. 'Father Venning, S.M., who was, present, srave a short address to the seamen. Mr. Kelly, who presided stated that he was pleased to see such a large numlrer present, and he thanked tnose who nad so ably asisted to mako the concerts a success. He also assured the seamen that the confcrenco would provide even better concerts in future. In conclusion, ho thanked Captain Bonner for generously placing the hall at their disposal, and also for the amount of trouble which he had gono to in making the arrangements for the evening's entertainment;] Captain Bonner replied, and in doing so stated that it was a pleasure to him-.; to help the society in its good work,:/and ,he hoped that it would continuo to flourish.
