CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

Messrs. A. E. Mabin (chairman), C. Jones, Jns. M'Lellan, W. J. Thompson, T. Bollinger, A. Leigh Hunt, E. &. lilcher, F. W. Manton, and T. C. Dawson wero present at the montlily meeting ot the Council of tho Wellington Chamber of Commerce held yesterday. Messrs. A. A. Stichbnry, H. Young, and F. B. Gormley were elected members of tho Chamber. , ~ ■ , The bank certificate of the Chamber showed a credit of <£75 7s. 10d. The resignation, was received ot air. Charles Seager. It was decided to discontinue ihe payment of the sum of £12 12s. per annum to Mr. W. Pryor, . who when Mr. Samuel Carroll was secretary of tho Chamber, watched all legation submitted to the Houso on behalf of the Chamber. Ihe chairman said that the money had been granted, by tho Chamber at a- time when the late Mr. Carroll was secretary, and that it was then thought that the other Chambers of Comraerco of the Dominion would unite in paying Mr. Pryor a year for that work, but the other Chambers had not paid anything, and it was for them to decide if thoy were to | continue the payment. They, now had another secretary who was quite capable of. doing the work. On tho matter being made the subject of a resolution it was decidcd, on tho motion of Mr. C, W. Jones> to discontinue the payment, . For the use 'of ships on foreign voyages nearly three million tons of bunker coal irere shipped from Scotland last year.
