The Oroua Tennis Club will formally open tlio tennis season in Feildinp, Miss Muriel Bennett, the Wellington vocalist, litis accepted nil engagement with the Feilding Choral Society as soprano soloist at its coming production of Handel's "Messiah." As a result of the recent flood in tlio Oroun River u portion of the flow is now diverted across to tlio sontli Iwuk. Besides cutting off a lArgo. portion of dry river-lied, and threatening to inundate valuable land, the new cliannol also iB a great hindrance to local golfisla, as it has completely cut off tlio track to the poif links; the links can now be roached only via Cameron's Line—nil added distance from the bridge of about ft mile and a half.
