HUTT ROAD TALLIES.
THE COMMISSIONER'S DECISION. When Mr. W. S. Short I met [\\o representatives of' the ten Wellington local bodies who have been made liable for the cost of the Hutt road work he stated that tallies of the t.rnllic on the road would bo made and that the results of these (allies would Ik- taken as the tentative proportions of liability. Objections to those proportions he added, could bo made when the Commission resumed utter the takiug of tho tallies. Mr. Short lias since decided Hint the Railway Department shall have- tallies taken lit tho south side of the bridge over tho lCoro-Koro stream, the south side of tho Kaiwarra Bridge, and tho south side ■of the Ngalmurangn Bridge. The tallies will be taken day and night for three weeks, commencing on August 14. Other tallies taken by local authorities may be. put in us evidence a I the. inquiry.
