SCARCITY OF VEGETABLES. This week's Syilncy boat brought, over a rather larger consignment of fruit tluui in'the previous week mill the lioUvr part of the fruit was lauded in good order and met with u decreased demand. Lemons liuvo been scarce during the wtek ami the few that arrived by the Melbourne boat sold at high prices. Vegetables have been in shorter supply during tho week, but from now on no doubt larger supplies will 1)0 arriving. The approximate values are: Sydney oranges, choice, Bs. to 10s.; others, (is. Gil. to 7s. Gil.; mandarins, 6s. to 12s. (id. per case, according to size and quality; Queen pineapples, Bs. to 10s. per ease, rough pineapples, (is. Gd. to 7s. Gel.; Sydney lemons, 12s. (id. to 145.. per case; loquots, ■is. to 55.; passion fruit, 4s. to ss. Gd.; blood oranges, 12s. 6d. to 155.; Mildura lemons, according to quality, 10s. Gd. to 17s. Gd. per caso; American -apples, 10s. to lis.; •Tnsnianian, choice, dessert apples, Bs. 6d. to 10s.; cooking apples, Ss. to Ss.; New Zealand apples are in" shorter supply, choice dessert kinds are quoted at 7s. to Ss. Gil., and cooking apples at 7s. to Ss. Gd.; hot-house tomatoes, Is. Oil. to 2s. per lb; asparagus, lOd. to Is. Gd. per bundle, according to size; rhubarb, 3s. Gd. to !}s. per dozen; cabbages, choice, 10s. to .12s. per sack; others, 7s. to Bs.: cauliflowers, choice, 10s. to 135.; others, ss. to Ss. 6d.; swede turnips, its.
