Still more cases arc coming to light of consumptives receiving assisted passages from England to Australia. Two consumptive immigrants' recently applied to Mr. Hazelthorne, of tho Immigration Department, for light rural employment. They admitted they had emigrated from England in the-hope of restoration to health. Mr. Hazelthorne do. Clares that tho system of checking assisted immigrants is unsatisfactory, and ha proposes that medical officers should bo appointed in important centres, and that assisted immigrants should bo required to produce a certificate from one of these. . Mr. Tudor, Federal Minister for Trade and Customs, announced in the House of Representatives that negotiations are, proceeding on behalf of tho Federal and State Governments for entrusting tho examination, of emigrants to tho Commonwealth and preventing afflicted emigrants sailing for Australia. ■
