LOST LICENSES.
. A PETITION TO PARLIAMENT. The licensees of the hotels at Poriron and Piihnutamii which lost their licenses as a result nf the last alteration of electoral boundaries brinpritiß , them into a No-License district, have petitioned Parliament for redress. Pditinnors point out that the present licensing law specifics Hint no license shall be- cancelled unless a ihree-fifths majority of electors in n district: is in favour of such a proposal lyu'ng carried, and that their licenses have been cancelled although the total number of voles recorded for Mo-T,ieense in (lie district in which the hotels were s-ilualecl wlien the last poll w.n.s (al;en was 205 short of the three-fifths majority required by law for the cancellation of licenses. On- the ground that they havo pructie.ally lost overythinp; through Um injustice meted out to them by the present law, petitioners ask the House to grant them relief by way of compensation for the severe loss tlint they havo mistnined.
