Tho Defenco Department have acquired offices in the old Post Office building in High Street, which is also utilised by the Agricultural Department. Mr. A. .T. Pnrton, of Carterton, made a successful through trip to Elthum on a motor cycle last week. He toft Carterton at GJJS a.m., and arrived at Git hum that evening at 8.30, having ridden 210 miles during tho day. Ho experienced a couple of hours' delay through missing t-lio road into Ilawera, and getting into the Manain district instead. ITe also found tho roads in the Maiiaia hnd Inglewood districts very bad, and he also encountered rain, hail, and wind on the journey. So, taken altogether, it was a very good run.
