I (By TeUgraph.—Press Association.; , Gisbome, September 30. . j A good deal of dissatisfaction expressed' I by ratepayers concerning the administration. of the borough affairs culminated in { the resignation a few weeks ago of Coun- , oitlor Collins oil the grounds that there ' was extravagance in carrying out loan works. The consequent by-election resulted in the r»-election of Councillor Collins on Thursday last by an overwhelming majority.' Following up his announced policy of reforming the Borough Council, Councillor Collins convened a meeting of •burgesses, which was held to-night.' - Tho meeting was attended by about 500 . people, whilo manv were unable to gain admission.. A resolution was carried callS ing on the Mayor and Council to ask tho ■ borough engineer to resign. Another rer solution was to the effect that" if the council should not fall in with the wishes of the meeting, Councillors Hep- ■ burn, Sawyer, Wildish, and Collins should resign as a protest. A deputation will bring the resolutions before tho council to-morrow night.
