WON BY CHRISTCHURCH MAN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ChHstchurch, September 30. In connection with the .Post; and Tol&rf graph Department, there is in existence al prize known as tho Gray Memorial Prize, open to any officer in the service who suggests an improvement or invents a coin trivance for tlie better working of thai Department. The prizo for the year 1910, in the form of- an engraved gold medal, has been awarded to Mr. J. G. Rule, chief, mail clerk, of Christchurch, who iuvented a machine for measuring the number of lettors posted. This machino is now in general nse. Only two medals have been awarded since tho fund was inaugurated some four years ago, tho committeo having tho right to say whether ot not any of the suggesions forwarded are worthy] of adoption.
