Scott also spoko on matters ) pertaining to tho sport. . FIVE-MILE CHAMPIONSHIP. The Wellington Harriers Club ran. its five-mile championship on Saturday, in heavy rain. Owing to compulsory military training and the weather,, only six men faced tho starter, Mr. W. H, Pollock. , After the rain the course was very dead , and the going heavy. From a good start i W. Bennett went to tho front, the. rest of the field following close up. At about 2i miles W. Press pnt in a big bid for the ' lead, but Bennett stalled him off, and, '. drawing away, won by 200 yards, with W. Press second, and W. 'Donaldson third. On the handicaps being made up it was ' found that W. Power had won the sealed handicap, taking Mi's. Salek's trophy, T. G. Kerr being second. The following are the handicaps:—W. Bennett, scr.; W., Press, lOsec.; W. Donaldson, 50sec. i T. G. Kerr, lmin. 55sec.; C. Lamberg, 2rain.; W. Power, tain. The times of placed men are as follow:—'W. Bennett, ."Omin. 51sec.; ,W.
