Ho is an exhibitioner of Lincoln College. q£i' f v IF du ?, , «] '» «"> Honours fccliool of Modern History in 1837 After somo years at a woltknown English' preparatory school, ho was appointed in 1902 to an assistant-mastership at Durban High, School, Natal. Six months after arriving at Durlxin he became second master and'during the six years that followcit no was on two or threo occasions 'ho acting headmaster. In 1008 Mr. ; Belcher resigned his post in Natal on ; being offered by Dr. David (now head- ; master of Rugby, but then of Clifton) a, mastership at Clifton College. That position- ho has now held for nearly fivo years. Mr. Belcher is tho author of two or three text-books now in use at Clifton and at other English public schools. Ha has lwen nn examiner for the University of the Cape of Good Hope, and fop Bristol University, but ho is now an , assistant-examiner to the Civil Servico Commission. He is also (ho president nf the Bristol branch of tho English Historw 1 cal Association. ■ So much for the educational side. ' Turning to sport nnd other activities, the ■ new headmaster takes a keen interest in every kind of sport. Personally his re* creations to-day are golf, tennis, and shooting. Hut he was in his school and college cricket and football teams, and . was captain of tho latter at his college. • Ho used to Way under both codes, alike at tho University and afterwards (for Rich* niond and tho Casuals), and though ho [ never got his Blue, he played on several • occasions for tho University. Now Mr. Belcher has retired to the ranks of 1 referees, Mr. Belcher's chief active interest to* ' •day is on the subject of defence. H© is 1 a major in )ho Territorial Forces, and ' commands the Clifton College Contingent | in tho Officers' Training Corps. He also 1 commanded a cadet corps for some years 1 in South Africa.
