FEILDING. Tho bad weather conditions in this district for several weeks past liavo materally affected the supply of milk. All factories report a falling off in the quantities of cream received, and a consequent decrease in the butter output. A single man named Wm. Francis Cahill, who had been residing in Feilding for some weeks, and was employed at JLr. It. Edwards's racing stable, was found dead in his bed yesterday morning. He retired on the previous night apparently in good health. Heart failure has been assigned as the cause of death. It is believed the deceased came from the Auckland district. At an inquest held yesterday afternoon by the coroner (Mr. Goodbeiiere), it was surmised by Dr. Livesay that heart failure was the cause of death, and a verdict to that effect was returned. CARTERTON. At a meeting of cricket enthusiasts, held in Carterton on Thursday evening, it was decided to re-start the Carterton Thursday Cricket Club. Officers were clected as follow:—Patron, Mr. W. C. Buchanan, M.P.; president, Mr. W. Moore; vicepresidents, Rev. R. Young, Dr. Johnston, Messrs. F. Feist, J. A. Dudson, H. Keltic, and G. L. Cole; secretary and treasurer, Mr. F. R. Fllis; match and management committee, "jlessrs. V. L. Fairbrother and H. Ogier; delegates to union, Messrs. Fairbrother and Ellis. Eighteen members were elected, and tho subscription was fixed, members under 18 years 55., and over eighteen 10s. It was decided to open the season on Thursday, October The sale of £300 under, the auspices _of the Wairarapa Terminating Building Society attracted three tenders on .Thursday evening, that of A. and C. Plnllpotts, at £22 10s. for each £150, being accepted. OTAKI. As tho result of a recent football.match, the Domain Board has been given a cheque for £2 for the improvement of the Recreation. Ground. The local racing club anticipate a large profit as the result of their recent meeting, and it is proposed that further improvements bo made to tho track. By the nest meeting it is hoped to have a road direct from the railway station to the courso. . The local bowling green is now open tor practice, but the official opening will not be till tho first' week in next month. . FEATHERSTON. Tho annual "social" of the Liberal Football Club was held in the Town Hall on Thursday night, 'about 150 being present. The M.C.'s for the function were Messrs. J. W. Henderson, H. Lewer, A. Tait, and G. Tait, and the secretarial arrangements were carried out by Messrs. A. H. Hayes and T. Ruane. During the evening, the medals won by players for the past season, were presented by Mr. W. Barton, patron of tho club. Prospects for the coming season, in pastoral matters, are considered to be very promising in this district. Although the indications for an early spring were apparent in the marked growth of grass a few weeks ago, a succession of cold winds recently lias tepded to retard growth. Docking operations hereabouts are not yet completed, but it is believed that a very good percentage of lambs will be recorded. In tho dairying industry, the output of the district is expected to be appreciably larger than that of last year. ' A largo wooden bridge across the Tauherinikau River, on the road, from here to Mar.tinborough, lias been showing signs of ,weakness during the past, year or so, and the County Council is' having it repaired with a view of carrying the traffic required. It is understood, however, that before very, long provision will have to bo made for a new bridge.
