■ —0 PORT NICHOLSON CLUB. The_ annual meeting of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club was held last evening, Mr. H. Chisholm presiding. Considerable discussion took placo on the balance-sheet, which disclosed some big items of expenditure. Members, however, were satisfied with the explanation given by th« secretary and commodore.) On the other hand, they expressed themselves as being dissatisfied with the fact that the balance-sheet showed a deficit, instead of a balance for the club-house fund. - A letter was received from tho Wellington Cruising Yacht Club offering their co-operatlou with the I'.N.Y.C. on opening day.. The matter was left in tho hands of tho incoming committee to deal with. Dr. Chesson wrolo to tha club in regard to tho number of cases of careless manoeuvring of yachts in the boat harbour. Ho thought that something ought to be done in the matter, so that somo protection .might be obtained. It was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the committee, who would liavo authority to deal with it.
Officers elected were as follow:—Patron, his Excellency the Governor; president, Mr. D. M'Laren (Mayor); commodore, Mr. H.'Chisholm; vice-commodore, Mr. O. Freyberg; rear-coinmodoie, Mr. AVilliam Mpore; secretary, Mr. C. F. ' Ward; treasurer, Mr. Fred. Cooke; committee, Dr. Clicsson, Messrs. A. Lancaster, N. Gibbs, F. Ki&rntin, A. Holmes, and R. Millman; handicapper, Mr. J. Moffatt; starter, judge, and time-keeper, Mr. 1,. Sleightholme; auditor?, Mes'rs. W. Brnok Taylor and S. E. Forbes; racing secretary, Mr. C. J. Ward, jun. It was decided to call a general meeting for October 11. Five new members were elected. Tho annual report, stated that the club had held a successful opening on November 11, 1911. Tt also mentioned the success which attended the anniversay regatta and the ocean yacht race to Port Underwood. During the year eight members resigned and 30 new members wero elected. Mr. A. Duncan resigned from the committee, and Mr. F. Cooke was elected to fill tho vacancy. The report also mentioned that several names had been struck off tho roll in accordance with Rule 10. The club desired to thank the following:—Captain Post, (he Wellington Harbour Board, the Rev. D. C'. Bates, Mr. L. Sleightholme (judge and starter)! Messrs. J. MofFntt, J. Keinian. and W.' Mooro (hamlicappers). and Messrs. W. Brook Taylor and S. E. Forbes (auditors).'
