MISSIONARY CO-OPERATION.

IN THEOLOGY AND STEAMERS:. A striking feature of present-day missionary enterprise is to be seen in interdenominational- 1 ' co-operation, and. that wiriibut' 1 anj-saerliici 81 distinctive principles. One of tho most recent instances of this sensible and economical rapprochement appears in the, decision of the Wealeyan Missionary Society to unite with tho Baptists in the theological classes of the Calabar College, Kingston, Jamaica. This, following upon tile opening ol Seramporo College, in India, to all sections of Christians, both as to its teaching staff and its students—a step of which advantage is being duly taken—is certainly all t.o the good.' The most remarkable case of this co-operation is, in tlio opinion of many, to be found in Delhi, where' Anglican missionaries have not ouly handed over ;i hostel to the Baptist missionary, but have invited him to take part in the work of their college and to givo Scripture teaching. In China, too, for some time, with, every satisfaction, the B.M.S. and the American Presbyterian Missions have acted together in the Theological and Normal Collego in Ching Cltu Fit, and at Wei Hsien and Chi-Nan-Fu Baptists attl Anglicans liuve joined lit tho Arts and Medical Institutions. On the. Congo also the English and American Baptists are working together in tho Native Training College at Kimpese. _ Another illustration of this co-operation is presented in a proposal to establish, a united steamer transport, for Protestant missions on the Congo, an appeal having been made to the B.M.S. to undertake the task, an appeal to which, if practicable, there will bo given a favottrablo response. In this connection mention should be made of the joint action which is being carried on at tho Training Collego for Indian Christian Women in Calcutta, where lady workers, quite irrespective of ecclesiastical differences, are. working most happily together. — "Christian World."
