DICKENS COSTUME FESTIVAL.

; 9~. — The Dickens Festival, in cosjume, is to bo produced in the large Town Hali next Wednesday, under tho direction of Jlr. Ji F. Jlontague, of Auckland. The first part of the programme will consist of various sketches and scenes, all of which will be performed in the correct costumes of the period. The following are a few of the items culled from the programme:—"Mr. Bumble's courtship" (Jlrs. Forsyth and Mr. Jlontague), "The friendly waiter" (jriss Joy -Bartley and Jlr. Fraser Thomson), "Jlrs. Gamp" (Mr. Allan M'Elwaiii), and Jlr. J. Culford Bell's realistic performance of "Fagan's last night." Tho last is described bv one who saw Jlr. Bell act it at the recent Auckland Festival as a marvellous piece of amateur irct:ng. Tho performance eoncludes with the famous trial scene, "Bardell v. Pickwick." The box plan is now open at the Dresden, and the full programme will be announced on Saturday. .
