Mr. Taft, in an authorised interview, lias repented his previous statement, that ho will certainly boj re-elected President. He declares that the Regular Republicans are certain to carry the East, and aro ; holding sufficient of the Middle States to be assured of victory. The Democratic strength has failed to materialise. If tho Republicans won, their first duty , would bo to revise the tariffs.
