Airs. Stichbnry will accompany her husband as far as Tasmania. Mr. Patrick Jlonaghan, ono of Wellington's oldest pioneers, sustained a rather severe shock on Monday. He was cross- > ing Featherston Street, opposite Johnston and Company's warehouse, when he was pushed over by a motor-car. Luckily tho car was not going fast, and tho impact was a very slight one, still it was enough to give tho old gentleman, a bad turn for a few minutes. He was taken into Johnston and Company's office, and attended to until he recovered from the shock of the fall. Mr. F. J. Evans has been appointed secretary of the Victoria Bowling Club, vice Mr. F. North resigned, Mr. Leo do Chateau, formerly manager for tho Dandies (red), lias left for Melbourne, where he is to confer with tho management, of Edward Bransconibe, Ltd., on future operations of tho firm in New Zealand. Colonel Stuart-Menzies, of Sydney leaves Wellington by R.M.S. Corint'hic on October 3 for South America. Dr. J. Halliday Scott, of Dunedin, has booked a passage to London by R.M S Arawa. Word has been received of the death, at Katanga, Congo Beige, of Mr. William Dawson, at tho age of 35. He was a well-1 known Hastings boy, and oldest son of Mr. J. Dawson, of Clivc Grango. Ho left New Zealand some thirteen years ago, and after three years in England mado for tho Transvaal. Later ho was in Nigeria and Rhodesia. Tho return of Air. C. A. Wilkinson as mom bar for Lgmont was formally intimated to tho House of Representatives last evening by Mr. Speaker, who read the usual communication from Iho Clerk of tho Writs announcing tho result of the Egmont by-election. Mr. Wilkinson lias not yet arrived in Wellington lo lake up his political duties, but it is anticipated that ho will be sworn in on Friday. In a letter to the Chief Whip of the' nartv (Mr. D. H.
