Tho Borough Council, at a special meeting last- night, dealt with tho action of several members of the fir'o brigade in commandeering the brigade's motor-car to tako part in a strike procession, the car boirig decorated with red flags. After discussion it was decided that the Fire Council should meetjthe brigade today, and obtain an explanation and apology. In the course of (.lie discussion, Councillor Corringham said that, lie had asked one of the brigade what he would do if an engine-driver's house was on fire, and tho brigadesman had told him that they "would fill tho hose with kerosene." The brigado had been notified not to take the car out except in cases of alarm, but the notice was treated with contempt. Waihi September, 24. Mr. H. P. Barry, superintendent of the Waihi Company, interviewed this morning by a "Daily Telegraph" representative,, stated that work would be resumed at the mine on Wednesday, week, and that the Waikino battery would be put into commission as soon as quartz was available. Work at the mine would be started irrespective of tho number of men who turned lip. All contractors who held uncompleted contracts with the Waihi Company, when the strike, was declared, have been notified by- registered lettrr to the effect that they can resume their contracts when tho mine'opens on Wednesday week, and unless they can show good reasons for not resuming work on that date, tho company will cancel tho contracts and put men on in their places. ,
