COOK ISLAND AFFAIRS.
ANOTHER INQUIRY. A featuro of the discussion upon Cook Island cll'airs, which took placo in the House of Representatives yesterday (as reported elsewhere in this issue) was that a number of Government members declared themselves strongly in favour of a full and exhaustive inquiry into the administration of (he Islands. In spite of this potent fact the report of the Jl to X Committee, which recommended dial the inquiry asked for by Mr. \Y. It. Reynolds should not lx! granted, was allowed to lie on the table without amendment and this in face of comparatively slight opposition. The explanation of this seeming anomaly is stated to l>e that the Government has determined to accede later oil, to the demand for an inquiry into the administration of the Cook Islands. It is understood, though it has not been officially announced, that an inquiry will be conducted in addition to and independent of, the investigation and report by Judge MaeCormiek which were mentioned yesterday by the Hon. Dr. I'omare.
