Soma of tho recent immigrants nave not impressed the men who wero delegates to tho Industrial Corporation which sat in Wellington yesterday. Mr. J. 13. Laurenson, o£ Christchurch, said that ouo immigrant, who was over fifty years of age, went into his office to borrow one shilling with which to buy a uicnl. "A nurse, a nnrso of tho sick," the man had answered. "Ho carried the measure," Mr. Laurenson explained to the conference, "to measure with after he had finished the nursing. Another immigrant who had gone to him, Mr. Laurenson said, was n man of 65 years, who had been "dumped out here without kith or kin, and truly helpless. This man had served thirty years as a driver on the Great Northern Hallway in England.
