Brunner and Mond's alkali works in Cheshire. Sir John Brunnor, head of the firm, in replying, denounced these attacks. He stated that the workmen had a week's holiday ycarly, free doctors, and pensions for old age, and asked,if they wish to relinquish these benefits for a shilling rise—to 235.
