LORD ISLINGTON'S DEPARTURE.
*- "GENERAL EEGKET." "This is (lie third occasion on which I have had the pleasure of addressing a Wellington audience on Dominion Day," observed Lord Islington at the opening of his address nt tho Early Settlers' gathering last night. Later, his Excellency said I hat. it would probably be tho last; opportunity he would have of addressing many of those present. Shortly afterwards tho Mayor referred io Lord Islington's pending departure, and called for cheers for his Excellency. The'cheers were heartily given.
Tho Prime Minister also referred lo the subject. "From the North Capo lo the BluiT," lip said, "tliorc is general regret- that Lord Islington is leaving, though ho is leaving lo take up whafjiuiy be moi-o important Imperial duties." Mr. Massoy added that Lord Islington's career would* 1)0 watched, with interest by the people of Now Zealand, who would wish him every success.
