It is proposed to establish a prison ■newspaper, as part of a scheme to ranke the prisoner's' life jnor'e. endurable. . In 1892 the gaol population of New South.Wales was 1899; it is now 10W.' It was stated in The Dominion a few days ago thnt the Sydney: Prisoners' Aid Society propose to issue a newspaper in gaol for the benefit of .the men confined there. The Minister for.Tustice (Mr. D. R. Hall), speaking'at the last meeting of the society, cordially approved of tho proposal. There does not, he said, seem to' , be very much difficulty in carrying the idea out.V If the relations between tho Speaker and the press in Parliament do not change very soon, it is possible we may have quite a number of editors in gaol—men froni whom.' we shall be able to make an excellent choice to run the newspaper. (Laughter.) •/
