FOR THE MAN IN THE STREET. ;If the." people will not come to Church, Hie Church must go to the people, is evidently, the motto of a .mission, which the Presbytery of Auckland is starting'next Sabbath , (says.. the. Auckland '.'Star"). Thousands of peoplo promenade Queen Street every Sunday evening,- and ' the Presbytery wants to bring at least somo of them under the influence of the Gosricl. There are no churches'.down Queen b(reet, but the Presbytery has taken the Queen's Theatre for Sunday evenings, and from next Sunday a Scottish evangelist, Mr. James M'Kondriek, will talk, there and sing hymns'in a manner' that should appeal to that, great .eonirregatiou—tho man in 'the street. His meetings are on the lines of the Chapman-Alexander Mission/and during tho visits of those niissioners to Australia in. 1903 and 1912 he-appeared with them. Mr.-.'M'Kcndrick knows how. , to 'interest tho maiiili'the street, and in addition to his talks ho sings hymns from a'book of his own compilation, and accompanies himself on the violin. The mission starts to-morrow. In the Queen's Theatre, Mr. M'Kendrick will hold a service in the evenings. The same dav he preaches in tho Presbyterian Church at Edendale in the morning, and holds a fortnight's 'mission in that church. Similar missions iirill be , held at Ponsonby, Romucra, .andPapatoetoe. •
