Tho Prime Minister, Mr. Fifher, was cheered to-day on introducing his Maternity Bonus Bill in tho House of Representatives. - Tho distribution of the bonus will bo conducted by commissioners. Tho Bill provides for a payment of £;> to tho mother of every viablo child born in Commonwealth territory, or on board a ship bound from one Commonwealth port to another." There will be no additional bonus where more than one child is born at one birth. Aboriginal, Pacific Hand, Papuan, and Asiatic mothers will not receive the bonus. The Bill contains strict provisions against fraud.
